What head unit for my M3? Should I revert to standard, or upgrade?
Hi All
I'm looking to upgrade the ICE in my M3 (which is hopeless as standard).
Currently I have a single din, fold-out-screen satnav stereo thing, and I hate it.
I am thinking of putting the standard head unit back in, and hoping I can add amps, etc to sort the sound out. Is this feasible?
Alternatively, what are some really good quality (I don't mean billion pound, world class - but really good), head units which have a nice, quality, simple look to them, without all the neons and flashing lights, and which ideally can have a CD changer in the back, as well as ipod / iphone connectivity?
I will also be fitting a bluetooth handfree thingy at the same time, so I don't know if this has any bearing.
Thanks for any advice.
Cheers
Simon

Simon,
For good sound quality you'll struggle to beat the mid-higher end of the Alpine range.
When you bring amps into the equation too the Alpine stuff has excellent crossover controls that allow you to control the cut off and slope seperatly from each other.
I currently have a Kenwood DNX7200 and whilst its packed with features such as DVD, Sat nav, touch screen, blue tooth, usb music player control the sound quality is nowhere near as good as an Alpine unit half the price.
As for bluetooth some units have this functionality built into them.
But as said look at the Alpine range they have some fantastic units.
