Default speaker quality in 2010 hatchback

Hi, I have recently bought a 2010 sti hatchback. I really like the car but the quality of the sound system is isnt up to much.

I was wondering if anyone on here has a hatchback and has upgraded the sound system and what you have used.

I dont want to spend alot and im not planning on putting a sub in the boot. Just want to have a richer, fuller sound

Any ideas/suggestions greatly received

Ollie

To be honest the standard speakers are fine, I never heard mine with the factory fit Clarion unit because I had the Pioneer AVIC F30BT SatNav unit fitted from new. But it sounds good and to be honest there's enough bass for me without a sub. I'd suggest upgrading your head unit and then sorting the speakers if you're not happy. I did find the auto EQ setup function for the Pioneer made a massive difference in the sound quality and was worth the crazy cost of what is essentially a microphone with a mini jack required to perform the setup.

Agree, its generally the HU that is not powerfull enough to power the speakers, obvioulsy they will not be great but a better HU would help, but if going for double din may be the more rexpensive route.

My 2011 has the actory Pionner upgraded HU, speakers and flat sub in the boot and is great for what I need, a fair bit of bass from a sub that is only 75mm high and mid is not bad at all.

I'm now running a Pioneer AVIC F950BT HU, standard speakers with the TS-WX77A active subwoofer in the boot.

As Abre says using the Pioneer auto EQ function (if available) makes a big difference in the sound quality.
