30-32 for the fronts and 26-28 for the rear, use the lower pressures if just you in the car and increase slightly if you regularly have passengers

''giving it a bit''
on brand new tyres ??????????????
that's the reason the tail was trying to come out

tyre pressures are the same regardless of 205/45 or 215/40

Just my experience.

When I bought 4 new Toyo T1R's on 215/40/17 I contacted Toyo UK and a technical guy there said to run 36 front and 33 rear (cold tyre pressures).

christ that sounds hi, although may just be the way tyres are now, they run with more pressure in

What model are they on? and what is the load rating of the tyre?
I have ran with these and they have a soft sidewalls.
I would run with what RB5 says, i too found this from Toyo's technical dept.
I ran with 31 back 36 front on a classic, found this to be the best, you will need a good 500 miles on them to scrub them in.

hi you might have tyre roll because the rims arnt wide enough for 215 tyres i was going to get some on mine but was advised not to by the tyre fitter.

Hi Pete 215x40x17 is o.k. unless you have anything less than 7" rim width, which is unusual on a scoob.

The original tyres would have been 205x50x16 on a classic, so you are only going up one size on the rim and coming down in profile.

I upped my pressures today in a (vain) effort to get a little more mpg, but also to see what effect it would have
F were 30
R were 28

F now 34
R now 30

result: I nearly crashed!..handlingis completely different to before: the understeer is worse, but its alarming how quickly the rear comes around off the throttle
think I'll go back to the old pressures
