Default Walbro fuel pump

Hi all. I've just replaced my walbro 255 pump the previous one failed. Anyways after driving about 6 miles when reversing on the drive the pump was whining very loud. I stopped engine and turned ignition on and off a few times and the pump was still loud. I tried it again after 10 minutes and it sounded normal. Have I bought a duff or copy pump?
Cheers

Mine goes through phases of being noticeably loud, too and has been on for two years or so. I plan on replacing the Walbro pump with an alternative at some point.

There is way more fake Walbro pumps on the market than there is genuine ones. Also a lot of them you can barely tell not to be genuine unless you cut them open
