Hunting at idle
I need help with an idle issue please guys. It doesnt happen all the time, but sometimes when the car is warm and i come to a junction the idle drops like its going to stall and starts hunting. Ive read it could be anything from idle control valve to maf to o2 sensor, but are there any easy checks i can do to work out whats causing the problem?
Thanks in advance
Steve
Forgot to say, the car is a MY99 uk turbo if that makes any difference

I had similar problems. In my case most of the small vacuum hoses were cracked and leaking along with one not being attached to a solenoid at all. Replaced the hoses, reset ECU and has been perfect for two years now. But, like you say it could be any of the items you listed. Check engine light on?

Piehole, no the engine check light hasnt come on, and like i said it doesnt do it all the time. Can the idle control valve just be cleaned? If so is there a guide anywhere? Also, is it possible to check the maf or o2 sensors are working properly or is it a garage job
Thanks
Steve

Icv is held on with 2 smallish screws . Just unplug , unscrew and pull it out. Clean the little rubber"cone" and the shaft and wipe out where it fits .
