Default Newbi help Subaru impreza bottem end

Hi all and what a great forum.

I need some advise I have a 1992 Subaru impreza turbo Japanese import the bottem end is really knocking and not drive able. A friend of mine has offered me a 1994 2.0 impreza engine none turbo would the bottem end be swappable ??

Any advise would be great

Hi and welcome to the madhouse

Crank would be the same ( 75mm stroke and center thrust ) but the pistons and rods are different.
It would result in a very high Compression ratio which would be unsuitable for your Turbo engine.

You could use the crank shaft from the non turbo engine as a replacement but you need to have new big end bearings at the very least. As said before, unless you have a wealth of knowledge and a load of tools you'd be better leaving it to someone that knows what they're doing.

Most importantly you need to find what caused the failure in the first place or else you will blow the new/repaired engine too.
