Default brake proportioning valve

How important is it to have the brake proportioning valve secured to its bracket?

I have been trying to fit a brake stopper kit and when it came to attaching the valve to its bracket by way of the bolt I couldn't get the bolt to tighten. Either I am failing to get the bolt properly aligned or I have damaged the threads

Thanks

Nick

Probably will make no odds but technically brake items should be secure as brake pipes are quite fragile and if things are left to vibrate it will weaken the pipes. If you have stripped the thread and its on the suspension turret just get to the other side (in the arch) use a longer bolt and a nut inside the arch.
