Default Potential Car purchase but has running fault - HELP??

Hi all

So, I'll try to make this simple but probably wont work!
I'm looking to buy a type R and one that I've found looks good but the guy selling says it needs work due to an oil leak (which I'm not too bothered about) and the car sputters when coming on boost!??
Now, he sent me a copy of an invoice and it would seem that the engine was rebuilt using CP pistons, eagle rods, ARP head studs, ACL race bearings and more and cost a pretty penny
But he said nothing else has been done to it??

So, what do you think the problem could be?
Is there anything I could/need to check when I go look at it?

Your help and advice would be much appreciated

Many thanks

Dazzle

Was the fault that led to the rebuild ever diagnosed and repaired would be my first question.

Spluttering is obviously a fueling issue, what other mods does it have? ie de cat , induction or dump valve, and has it ever been mapped at any point in it's life?

Hi

Thanks for your reply

If I was a guessing man, going by the invoice, I'd say he spun a bearing as it looks like he had to have a new crank! That's not a definite but the guy I'm trying to talk with doesn't seem to know too much?

I asked him if it was modified in any other way and he said no!!
I think my best bet is to go have a look at it and then go from there, at least that way I'll be able to see with my own eyes......

Thanks
