Default Starter motor issue

After finishing off the fuel lines and filling with oil and coolant. Attempted to start the scoob for first time in nearly a year or so.

Ignition comes on fine, Fuel pump primes and pressurizes the system okay.

Turn the key to start it and the started makes a click as if attempting to turn. It wont. Removed the starter and the engine turn's round fine by hand.

Isit the starter that sounds fubar'd? Gave it a few wack's to help however it didnt make a difference.

Plenty of life in the battery as it been on charge for 24 hour's.

Anyone localish have a started motor i can compare it against ??

Also the alarm seem's to have a bit of a mind of it's own, it's a aftermarket Cobra system

Cheers and thanks

I know you say the battery is fully charged but if it's not been used in a year it may be goosed. Given the fact the alarm is also playing up. If you can, try a battery from a working car.

Does the motor run - pull it out and see if it turns when the key turns. If it turns does it try and engage the flywheel?

If its just a click you are hearing it may be the solenoid for pushing it forward towards the flywheel and its failing to turn. A replacement starter is only around £60 at the most.

Just had to have a new flywheel in mine as the ring gear had separated off the flywheel so wasn't starting all the time - flywheel, clutch and starter motor and now its perfect, cant see it being that though as its a freak thing to happen.

Click click click when you turn the key has always meant dead battery to me. And changing it, or jumping it has always been the solution. Worth trying another battery or jump leads.

Its a single click as I turn the key. Dorsnt have any movement at all. Removed it from the car. Try the key and nothing happens to the starter

the wheel moves freely round the way and it comes in and out a little bit as it should.

How do I test to see if it works as it should off the car?
