Don't restrict yourself to someone close to you to compromise the rebuild. Do a search on here for reputable 2.5 engine builders and travel if need be to find the right one.

As above, no one in Essex. The closest reputable engine builders off the top of my head would be slowboy racing and fb tuning.

Rich @ FB Tuning won't build a 2.5 engine because of their problems. He doesn't want to put his name to one. Which I can understand.

How does this stop you getting it done right by a specialist?

Train? Bus?

So you'd rather get a sub-standard job done locally that may fail again and cost you twice as much, than a perfect job done where you may have to travel to pick the car up?

I don't understand this. If my engine goes pop, the car will be going to the best engine builder possible to ensure the job is done right 1st time!

OP stated that ES are busy, so i guess he got the impression Paul was not keen to do it.

As stated above i would be looking to use someone like Engine Tuner to build the engine, the travel is a bit of a faff, but it's worth it IMHO.

i use zen performance in cambridge(Earith) ,properly done it may involve a partial engine strip down to deck block and heads-, all assuming no other damage done of course.
what about subaru repairs essex? have you tried them?

might pay to buy a cheap snotter to smoke around in for a few weeks till its sorted
