Anyone got Netgear Rangemax running at 270Mbps

Anyone got Netgear Rangemax running at 270Mbps
I just this week got the new Netgear Rangemax WNR834B wireless router and WN311B PCI adaptor.
I can't get a wireless connection using the full 270Mbps capability
Just rung the tech support line (in India...) and was told to run it in 54Mbps mode and that it will really be running in 270.
What a bunch of ****!
Was told only on some PC's does it actually show as running 270Mbps, have updated firmware and drivers.
Has anyone else managed to get this working reliably? - checked Google and it seems I'm not alone in having problems with these.
