if it is the top level library then it is on the hard disk and is titled Library

If it is the user library, then that is hidden. Click on desktop then Simply hold down the ALT key on the keyboard, click on the GO menu at the top and the library folder will now appear in the list, click on it and you will see the Application Support folder. Then just follow the path from there

Thanks so much for that.

Excuse my ignorance but how do you actually access the internal hard disc ?

That's easy
When in finder ( click the desktop) go up to the Finder window top and drop down to preferences
Under general tick all the boxes and hey presto the hard disk icon shows on your desktop
Unless you mean how do you get inside the Mac to access the hard disk then that is a different story !!

Not sure if boot camp is what they need as the Final Cut Pro is an indication of what the boy is using it for hence the Mac
Boot camp is only useful if you need to run specific windows based apps
