got a strange problems after I've been driving.
when the engine is warm and I arrive home (or stop somewhere) the idle is a bit high, about 1000+ rpm and the boost solenoid is clicking away!
I thought that this was only ment to 'click' when you had a few extra rpm on - i.e. when throttle position switch said you were pressing the loud pedal ?!?

anyone got any ideas? is it just my throttle not shutting 100% ? or the boost solenoid & pipes needing a good clean out!?

cheers
Steve

Throttle would be a good explanation. There is only one point in the MY99/00 ECU solenoid duty cycle map (and the other models years are probably similar) where the duty cycle is zero and that is under 2500 RPM AND lowest load. Anything else and the solenoid is clicking. You could measure the throttle position sensor voltage and check it is about 0.5V, and check for range of movement under the bonnet.

Cheers john,

it's normally NOT clicking on tick over (cold or hot) but lately it has been when hot. boost seems
ok (although not got a gauge yet)

it's an MY97 btw.

will try looking & measuring the position sensor when I get a chance.

You could have a vaccuum leak causing the ecu to read a low vac which would also set it off. The earlier ecu's triggered the solenoid based on map output not tps.
