What ECU? Have it fitted by who? What difference will it make to the car?

I have no knowledge of ecu upgrades apart from they will increase bhp. Please could someone tell me the advantages of having one and as the subject says, what are the best ones and who are the people to get them fitted by?

Oh and will they make my optimax last longer per mile?

Oh and forgot to add the car is a my98 turbo and currently bog standard. Only other mod I am currently looking at is full scoobysport system as my insurance company has just told me they cover them no problem at all at no extra cost

Well, option 1 would be the PPP. Only available from your Subaru dealer, but it's pretty cr@p on the MY98. MY99/00 is the muts nuts

Approx price is £1700 on the MY99/00 and not sure if still available for older models.

EcuTek is another ECU mapper, but that's only for newer models again.

That would leave Motec, Link or .......

...... can't think of anymore right now.

Anyone else?
