Cast your minds back please! About 6 months ago there was a thread on here about suppliers of this wonderful wax and some kind person posted that they use a high grade of this wax to release moulds in the aircraft industry (I think) and that a big pot of the stuff was not expensive. There were contact details posted and phone numbers for shops UK wide but I have lost those details but I think there was a shop in Portsmouth and that's only up the road for me!

If this thread can be found, or the original "poster" could re-post or email those details I'd be very grateful!

I have used Zymol, and Wax Wizards products but I'm interested in comparing them against this supplier (whoever they were!) as I remember it being a fraction of the price of the other mentioned products.

Hi Tim, I believe that the original poster was MRT or MRK, It was definately the guy who invented the mini P1 mud flaps out of some plastic from B&Q. I'm not helping much am I, sorry.

It was Mr Mudflap himself.... MTR.
He gave me the address of a company but unfortunately I don't have it here. The company was up in the North West so I'll check distributor info with him and mail details.

Not tried this stuff myself but he is obsessive about his Scoob so I would guess it's OK.

Not sure about the %content of "Pure Carnauba" in it though.....

When this info on Honey Wax was originally posted I ordered a tub. I have tried it but must admit it can be hard work to apply. I now tend to use Turtle Wax Emerald Carnuba formula. Goes on much easier and seems to give an equally shiny result.

 

Will let you know how I get on but will demo it on the Golf, not the 22b!

Bought a tub of this stuff but it mentions contains petroleum distillation products (ie like Autoglym). Thought the whole point of this stuff was that it was natural and likely to cause no harm?

Tim,
The petroleum content is the spreading agents blended with the wax to allow you to put it on in the first place.
It has not caused any harm to my last 3 Imprezas (all brand new), or even to the aircraft components we use it on as a release agent when forming seals on access panels with polysulphide sealant.

Edited to say, unlike Autoglym it has ABSOLUTELY NO ABRASIVES IN IT.
It polishes by leaving a mirror like gloss of wax on the surface, it doesn't scour the paint clean.

It is available nationwide fromn GRP Supplies, Rochgdale branch Tel No is 01706 630151 as previously mentioned.

The trade name is Honey Wax, part number 1189BA, and is made with highest grade carnuba wax, with spreading agents added to allow it to be applied.

It is NON abrasive, unlike many car waxes, and the wax is totally inert and harmless when swallowed.
It is used on Smarties, M &M's, tablets etc.

The carnuba wax content is approx 30% by volume, very similar to a a certain Wax mentioned on this BBS.
An official magazine advertisement (under the control of the advertising standards agency) I have seen in a friends magazine, for the 'other' more expensive product stated carnuba content in the 33%/35% area, from memory.

MTR, I have just spoken to GRP about this. They are happy to sell me a tin of this stuff at £10.77 + VAT, but here's the best bit. £10 for postage!!!

I think I shall pass, seeing as I only want to try the stuff first.
