I believe it is to cut down the volume of the tweeter.
I didn't bother splicing and connecting mine, so I don't get the -3db on the tweeter. Does sound quite trebly, but then I can turn that down on the head unit anyway.
I would say try it without connecting to the -3db connector, if you are happy, leave it. You don't need to connect anything to it.

Neil,
Where did you get these from? Having had one attempt and ended up with 655s instead, I have finally got my money back! Just wondered if it was somewhere local doing a good deal?

NeilA,
Fraid not mate - it was from Halfords and the were 119 quid http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif Bloody expensive really but I got them there and then and I had 100 quid birthday money to spend in there http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
As far as I know one of the cheapest is MCS Direct on the web - not sure of the URL.
Cheers

No problem! I thought it looked too good to be true, but until you actually press the 'I want to buy it' button, you don't see the extra costs! Anyway I'll have a look around and see what I can find - not in any hurry.(I was a while ago when I first tried to get some, but now other things have come up to spend my money on!)
Neil.

Sorry about that Neil, they lied to me then, they told me it included VAT, just add shipping. I ended up getting them from a local dealer, as he sold me them for £85
