Not a happy bunny at present..

I need some transmission bits for the Legacy, so i enquired at the local dealer only to be turned down because i have an import. Something about not being allowed to supply..? Do they not want my future business?..

Where do i get parts from if not the dealer? This must be a common issue with all import owners. Is there an alternative suppliers somewhere? Any help would be much appreciated.

sorry, should have said what i am after.

Its the 4EAT automatic transmission, and i need a replacement AWD MPT solenoid C, as mine fails when hot.

I can get one from the U.S. but surely there is somewhere in the uk i can get one from?

Andy,

It has to be one of the daftest decisions ever, IM prevent dealers from having anything to do with imported cars.

IM must have felt really threatened to do this, especially as other Japanese manufacturers have seen sense to permit dealers to work on these cars.

Bet the dealers must be pissed with the loss of business, especially as they are supposed to make most of their money on servicing and parts, and not the sale of a car.

Try Subaru dealer in Enfield called Lavender Hill Garage. They are based in North London. Speak to a chap called David Medcalfe. He is a complete jap spec freak and should be able to help you.

Andy,
there is a little garage in Tiptree (Bluebird I think) that used to be a subaru garage, When I spoke to him he said that he gets parts from the dealers, and said he could get parts but if they don't fit they don't fit. As long as the part is the same there shouldn't be a problem doing it this way. Could this be a way of by passing the main dealers??

Or try Cheam Motors, they can sometimes "find" these sorts of parts for you....

Matt :)

P.S. IM are idiots who don't deserve the Subaru franchise or our business!!!!!! :(:(

You could try an automatic transmission specialist in your area, they should sort it no probs!

Just a bit puzzled here. Why do you have to tell them it's an import?

When I bought bits for my 2001MY they didn't ask. OK it's a Euro not a grey, but even so they wouldn't have known

Often if they suspect it's an import (Jap not Euro) then they ask for the VIN number and then they'll know it's Jap and tell you to bugger off.

Some models of Legacy you can/could only get in Japan so it's obvious just by asking for some parts..... :(

Matt.
