Aye - an air of arrogance but damn thats what us spectators want.

More poor organising - did u see Burns come up against Loebe in his damaged Xsara? Burns slowed down and went past on the left side - Loebe then crunches him into the barrier. Id be well pissed off if I was Burnsy.

But was it deliberate or did he spin and then pretend it was on purpose? Probably not, but he did go into the hairpin very fast.

Nothing like a bit of showing off to brighten up a rally, full credit to him :D

I wonder if Loebe has been taking lessons from a certain M Schumacher?

Anyway, this thread is Off to the motorsport forum.

Good to see a driver putting on a show for the crowds...thats what we want to see :D

Better than some boring "team orders" type driving

BOB :D

Top marks to Panizzi, and nil points for Loeb - I'm guessing that was to see if he could help Bugalski on a little.

Really none to impressed with the Citroen team - they have a cracking car that really can perform on the tarmac but just don't seem to be playing fairly. I guess their view is "They can't take manufacturers points from us, so what the hell" :(

Panizzi, well done son, just think how much extra exposure Peugeot will get for 10 seconds of show boating.
Must admit a bit surprised by Loebs move, maybe he genuinely didn't see him. Have to see incar to decide. But Burns did say at the end. "Who was that?" So he wern't happy.

Was there and saw it in the flesh.

The crowd went wild, and I just had to shake his hand when I spotted him in the airport terminal this morning :D

I was there at the hairpin too. ;)

Panizzi, what a superstar!!!!!!!!

That was one up the ass for the FIA. Did you know that the FIA has banned the drivers from doing donuts at the finish now!! It's in the rules!!! If you cant do it at the finish, do it mid stage on the biggest spectator point on the WRC. AWESOME!!!!!! :D:D:D

Panizzi has a lot of new fans, including me. :D

I'm sorry to drop this in guys but although I agree that Panizzi is a very talented driver and there is no doubting his love for Peugeot, there is one undeniable flaw to this whole arguement:

He is a tarmac specialist and there aren't that many in the WRC.

Will he still be flavour of the month at the end of the season? I would say probably no, he just won't get the results in the other races and will become "that guy who won a couple of times back in the spring".

Good driver but not World Champion material at the moment.

I was down at the hairpin as well. I'd wondered if the stupidly early start was worth it, but when something like 5000 people see a stunt like that and go utterly mental it all becomes worth it.

Not a Peugeot fan but fair play to Panizzi. A season like last year and he might not be far off the championship.

One thing I loved about those donuts........when I saw the coverage of the rally, with the inboard cam, Gilles was waiving to peeps almost the whole time he was making some smoke.

Yeah, the guy is cocky, but DAMN can he drive. He had so much time on his hands that he tooks a few seconds to amaze the crowd........gotta love that !!
