View Full Version : Castle Combe 3rd May - unlimited tracktime
Darin 19 March 2002, 16:25 Hi everyone,
Some of you will know me if you've come along to previous Mitsubishi Lancer Register trackdays, and know how friendly the MLR days are, but I'm here to invite you to the next trackday I'm organising at Castle Combe on 3 May.
The day features open-pit lane format (possibly the first time ever at Castle Combe) and free professional tuition from our team of instructors - if required. Silverline International tyre co. will be present throughout the day as will 'SNAP' photography, and as numbers will be restricted to only 60 cars there should be ample tracktime for everyone.
Price for the day is £149, with additional drivers being £35 each and passengers £5 each (both payable on the day). All bookings will receive a full information pack detailing all aspects of the day which I hope will answer any questions you might have - but if you have any burning ones please contact me or post here. :-)
If you'd like to book, please send your cheque (made payable to TRACKSTAR please) to; Trackstar, 29 Wheelers Road, Midsomer Norton, Bath, BA3 2BX
Trout 01 April 2002, 19:41 Hi are there any places left - I am up for it - can't wait to get out there again!
Email me at Rannoch1@hotmail.com
Cheers,
Trout
MatthewC 03 April 2002, 10:22 Darin,
It's probably worth letting us know what the on-track limit is - IIRC Combe run a maximum of 12 cars on track (or just 6 cars at some events).
(Although the CCC days have millions, so maybe this isn't the limit!)
Some people like a clear track, some people like more time on track - best to give us as much info as possible!
Cheers,
Matt
Darin 16 April 2002, 05:21 Trout,
Yes, there are some places still available - I've mailed you a booking form directly.
Matthew,
Sorry I missed that vital piece of info! The low numbers of cars allowed on the circuit has always been the reason I've not run a day at Castle Combe before, but I'm pleased to say that for this trackday we're able to run 20 cars, so it should be a good one!
Cheers,
Darin
MatthewC 16 April 2002, 11:32 Cheers for that Darin.
Send me the form - I may be up for this.

Darin,
great day - thanks for letting us humble Scoobs come along.
Much greater mix of cars than a SIDC day - and some seriously quick machines out there - the SIDC guys would be shocked!! Mind you in SIDC days 50% of the cars don't come in by trailer/lorry/pit support team ;)
Some very quick Evos - but the Yellow Integrale was superb, and quick, and had the biggest brakes I have ever seen! Mind some Evos don't like being passed by a Scoob (especially when they are videoing for their mates down the pub!) :( - mind you this was only one car - the black one!
Other than that eejit - what a fantastic, interesting and even highly tuned Scoob humbling day!
Looking forward to the next one!
Trout :D
Ok...
I want to know who out of you sad Scooby lot (that, sad to say constantly over took me!:)) had the exhaust that sounded like a jet aeroplane....
Sounds absolutely fantastic whilst I was watching and on my video.....
I want one for my Evo!..
Don’t be shy...let me know!
Colie
Andy Hamp 05 May 2002, 10:22 Firstly a big thank you to Darin for an excellent and well organised track day. Almost every one was well behaved and just there to enjoy themselves and have fun. I only saw one show off all day and he paid the price. :-(
As too which scooby had the "aircraft" exhaust ! I have to say it wasn't me (Blue MY01 Bugeye). It wasn't Trout (Hi Trout, i saw you out on track a number of times but never managed to see you near your car else i'd have said hello). And there were only 3 (?) other Scoobys there. One of the Evo's (White with a huge rear wing) had a strange sounding exhaust.
Cheers ... Andy
Andy,
I think it was me - of all the Scoobs - mine was the nearest to sounding like a jet and did pass a few cars on the way around - although one or squeezed past me as well - ;)
Trout
PS it is an HKS with bung - custom D/P - however they just don't sound the same on Evos!
Trout,
which HKs was it(Muffler?)..and sorry for my ignorance ..but 'bung' are you refering to baffle?...
any who...
i must mention the only time i got a little to close to a scooby on the track in my black 4 was just after the rain had started.
Just came out of quarry and it tried to over take me on a right hander.....
My 4 was sliding in its direction...and i'd lost the scooby in my mirror...
could not brake or i'd have lost it....my passenger did have to change his pants and i was expecting to a nudge from the rear passenger side...
fortuatley it managed to stay out of my way and blast on past on the straight....
...

Collie,
it is an HKS Hiper - the bung is an extra baffle to get the noise below 100db.
Trout :D
Colie,
yeah- but that is like an RS Turbo saying he passed an XR2 - I mean you have at least 50bhp more than the car behind..........
........how long did it take for him to overtake you?
Trout ;)
PS - So Evo drivers have a website - didn't think they could read! LOL
Trout :D
Ha,
i was counting the minutes until someone came back with that one!:):)LOL
everybody passed me...:) can't you tell these are MLR pictures:)LOL
it was my first track day in my defense....i thought i was quick!...need to practice ..practice...practice...
..i mean i was on my cool down laps..;)
Sounds like i missed a great day!:(
Colle i know what you mean, you think your quite quick driver then you go on track and the bu66ers slip by.....somehow!:):D
Lee
...actually the guy in the picture with me is the unfotunate one...

HuggyB 05 July 2002, 11:21 Glad you liked the car Trout! The brakes do help ;) they are only 4 pot AP's, but with 356mm discs! I think we chatted for a while.(Dave isn't it) The MLR are a really friendly bunch(ignore what you read on their forum) and they always welcome other cars to their trackdays.(Unlike other clubs I could mention!!!) I look forward to the next one!!!
cheers,
Derrick.
