Okay, I know most of you have ditched the standard "bugeyes" but I actually like them (especially on a silver car). My trouble is I bought some Subaru clear protectors and I can't get 'em to fit. Or what I should say is that the damn bonnet won't close with them in place. Taken them off and put 'em away out of sheer frustration. Anyone else had this problem/any tips ? Otherwise it looks like a trip to the dealer

Heard this somewhere before Mate - I suggest letting the dealer have a go. Then it's their fault if they cause any damage....

Yes I might wait for the 1000 mile service, done 215 since collecting car yesterday. It drives much better than my MY99 Turbo, smoother, more refined and steering response is superb. The car also has more grip. Manual says keep under 4000 rpm before 1000 mile service and don't labour engine brake heavy etc etc.

Thrilled to bits with it, much better than my Turbo IMHO.

How is your car going H ?

I have them and had the same prob but after a couple of times it seems to have gone away.

J, What did you do ?

I must admit I like to close the bonnet by "gravity" i.e dropping it from about 8". When I fitted the covers I dropped it from about 6" as I didn't wish to break the covers or do any other damage.

Aluminium bonnet, don't wish to "push" close it as it may dent easily

Errr....why do you want to fit headlamp protectors anyway? - the lamps are made of polycarbonate not glass on a MY01/2 and would probably withstand a shotgun blast anyway....

Good point Dave. To be honest, I've not really studied the standard fit lights - Morettes on from the start.

Yorkie - now done about 400 miles. It's an absolute blast, and surprisingly refined on the Motorway as well. Great all rounder....

Harry, must agree with you, the car is superb to drive. I enjoy it more than my previous Turbo. The steering feel and response is excellent. Its also very responsive at low revs - much better than I had expected. Prefer it to the Turbo actually :D

Good to hear Mate!

It's my first Scooby (replacing a much loved Corrado VR6), and I'm amazed at the depth of ability of the standard MY02 car. Much better cruiser than I imagined, as well as being great fun off the Motorway. Excellent suspension control, married to a surprisingly compliant ride. Fabulous!

Gotta be honest, while I've enjoyed blasts in the original Impreza Turbo, I found it a bit hard work on a day to day basis. Corrado was a nice car though!

Turbo was one of those cars you took by the scruff of the neck and it loved to take a good thrashing. Plenty of driver involvement, but it could be a bit much when you weren't really in the mood for blasting around. Got fed up of the "on - off" response of the turbocharger on that model actually. New car is more linear :)
Many will argue who have a MY94-00 model I'm sure, but its all down to personal taste at the end of the day.

You're right Mate - the new Rex is ideal for me, as I need something that's fairly cosseting on long journeys, but a good bit of fun on the twisties.
