View Full Version : TSL does it again...and a good cuppa tea!
WRXBOB 14 March 2002, 22:17 What a relief it is to find a garage you feel you can trust :)
Never had much faith in garages, and my experince with a certain South Yorks dealer wasn't helping...see this thread:
http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=79532
Then I discovered TSL...
Called in there today as my mate and I both wanted to discuss some mods we wanted doing to our '02 WRX's...
What great guy's they are...never before have I felt so confident in trusting a garage to do a decent job.
Trouser(Paul) and his dad Graham really make you feel welcome, and Trouser makes a good cuppa tea too! even if it did take a while to get around to making it ;)
Booked in for a few things in April(in time for The BIG ONE):
Eibachs, Geometry, Braided Brake Lines, ITG Panel Filter, TSL Back Box & middle de-cat section...eeer think thats it
Their back box and de-cat section sounds excellent, giving the right amount of burble without being too loud,if you call in, listen to Grahams WRX as its got them on.
I wont go on any more as its turning into an advert for them (discount for me?)
Be warned if you are NOT an SIDC member...as you will be before you leave :p
Thanks guys(and girls)...my mate Mitch is well pleased with the work you did today...the exhaust sounded great on the way home, in fact, the car seemed to pull better at higher revs? Not sure if it was the ITG filter and back box or just the "placebo effect"
Cheers
BOB
PS. I'll be calling in around 10.30 tomorrow(14th)to get my oil changed, doesn't matter if I have to wait a while.
Harry_Boy 14 March 2002, 22:21 Angling for a discount there Bob?
CraigH 14 March 2002, 22:36 I'm sorry.
I don't actually believe you at all.
A good cuppa?
Rubbish ;)
ScoobyK 14 March 2002, 22:51 Nice one Bob, I too have just discovered how committed (should he be ?!?) and helpful Paul is too - a welcome relief from a certain BMW salesman I had to visit today (company car needs replacing....I can't handle 2 Scoobs !!).
Glenn
Harry_Boy 14 March 2002, 22:55 Bob, can you send me directions by e-mail Mate? I can feel a visit coming on....
WRXBOB 14 March 2002, 23:02 I cant tell you how pleased I am that we went to TSL today...
Even though its not that far for me to get there,I would still use them if it was a 2hr + drive away...
Good garages are VERY hard to find,
after only 1 visit, I have every confidence in them doing a 1st class job every time...and coming from me, thats better than "By Royal Appointment"
Paul/Graham,
"have I earned a discount yet?"
BOB :D
ChrisB 14 March 2002, 23:08 Hey Bob, I'm there 1st thing tomorrow, maybe see you there.
Craig - things have improved since I gave Trouser a new tea pot :D
WRXBOB 14 March 2002, 23:19 Chris,
Mines a Silver '02 WRX with Morrettes and a suitable reg plate, look for the fat geezer wearing a blue cap arriving about 10.30ish...
BOB :D
ChrisB 14 March 2002, 23:23 DBM MY99 4dr for me, probably be shirt and tied tomorrow.
WRXBOB 14 March 2002, 23:56 Chris,
probably be shirt and tied tomorrow
is that some sort of bondage gear...wearing a shirt then being tied up? How do you manage to drive all tied up? ;)
Will look out for you, shouldn't be too difficult to spot you, the ropes will give you away...
BOB :D
ChrisB 15 March 2002, 00:04 erm

trouser
WRXBOB 15 March 2002, 18:53 Trouser,
You went very easy on me, I was charged less than my mate Mitch
Didn't realise untill I got home that you didn't charge for ANY labour...I thought I would have had to pay labour for the oil change? Its just as well I gave the mechanic a tip :)
Tell Graham I have been to the SIDC site and joined up online.
Its the least I could do as I've already read the April 2002 issue of True Grip!
Thanks for the work you've done on both cars, will be seeing you April 5th for the NEW Eibachs fitting...
BOB :D
stephen emery 15 March 2002, 21:51 mentioned that they were quite good:D
steve
WRXBOB 15 March 2002, 22:00 You sure did Steve,
With the ITG filter and TSL group N back box fitted it feels a lot smoother, and pulls better right through the rev range.
Before it faded at higher revs, now it pulls a lot better through to the redline.
And it sounds a LOT better too
Do you want to try another side-by-side standing start comparison?
Think it might be even closer this time, assuming I dont make a f#ck up of the start!
Had any thoughts on the Blyton email I sent you?
BOB :D
ChrisB 15 March 2002, 22:18 Hi Bob - good to meet another ScoobyNetter.
I got two cuppas today  :D
TSL - not a garage, but a private hospital for cars :)
Yorkie 15 March 2002, 22:21 Where is this place ?
Nottingham ?
WRXBOB 15 March 2002, 22:29 Yorkie,
Small place called Keyworth South East of Nottingham, well worth the trip :)
Chris,
Now you mention it, TSL are nothing like a garage. The gang at TSL really make you feel welcome, they know all the technical stuff, and the whole experience of giving them loads of money becomes a pleasure ;)
BOB :D
DavidLewis 15 March 2002, 22:30 I've never used TSL but it does get one over on Scoobysport by way of the excellent cup of tea. My visit to scoobysport this week started with ME making PETE a cup of coffee :D :D :D :D
WRXBOB 15 March 2002, 22:35 CORNER
:D
M_D_B 15 March 2002, 22:51 You need to be careful David, TSL are also Trent SAAB, I'm sure Trouser has got something he can sell you for your new car :D:D.
Martin.
DavidLewis 16 March 2002, 08:48 Martin,
Worked that out the other day when surfing for SAAB tuning sites (god I'm at it already :D) Always wondered what TSL stood for. Never believed the S was for SAAB mind :D
Kevin Mc 16 March 2002, 10:56 I think TSL started off as Trent Saab - they eventually started to rally Scoobies, and as they picked the know how on Impreza's, they decided to start doing those too. (I think that's how it goes anyway!) I know one of the Master Technicians who is amazed about the amount some of you lot spend on your Scoobies even when brand new!
They are very well regarded in Saab circles too - for Saab tuning they are always mentioned along with Abbott Racing. I know of someone who travels up from Brighton to use TSL (the Saab part!)
I ought to start using them, as I'm not that happy with my local specialist.
Right, that's post number 1 out of the way. :)
