"Rumours have surfaced this week that Colin McRae is being courted by Subaru for a return to the Banbury based outfit for 2003. The Lanark man's 2 year contract with Ford will come to an end this year, and by then he will have spent four years trying to turn all of the money and state-of-the-art development into rally glory.

McRae makes no secret of his liking for the Impreza - just a few weeks ago he commented on the way the blue cars were so easy to drive, compared to the Focus WRC which did not come so naturally. The crazy season has begun early for the Scot."

Anyone heard more detailed version of the story?

Would be nice though if this were true. Makinen, McRae and Solberg playing the third fiddle. A one hell of a line-up ;)

Yeah this was rumoured within the "Inner Circle" during last years silly season,I for one would be absolutely made up with his return to Subaru and half expected it until they signed Tommi....................And there the problem lies because Tommi is contracted until 2004 and Subaru could definately not afford to employ possibly the two most expensive drivers in WRC along with a definate future champion:(

It's certainly a nice thought though :D:D:D and I can't be right all of the time:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thatīs true

But still.........

We got some $$$$$ for releasing Ginger from his contract "clause"

Why is Subaru only using 2 cars now in 2002? Remember that Subaru was using 3-4 cars on all of last seasonīs event.

And we are also getting a lot of $$$$$ from the 555 contract.

So here is another scam theory ;)

The reason behind this might be that Subaru is saving up for a major attack in 2003 and 2004 with Makinen, McRae and Solberg behind the wheel of the Impreza fleet.

Hey, one can always hope :):):):):):):):)

"So here is another scam theory "

Ohhhhhhhhh don't start me off on my scam theorys again;).............This supersluth has hung his boots up,leaving it to the pros like Taggart,Morse etc........ :D

Yeah I like the idea though,Hmmmmmm...................

Regarding Ford though,McRae will be in big demand come 2003 because of Sainz's retirement,I'd expect them to pay anything to keep him especially as it will be a quiet season for Driver changes therefore considerably limiting the choice of available drivers.

Well OK, the Burns scam theory didnīt go so well but we were both right on the 555 vs. David Richards scam theory :)

So I belief itīs ok to start one more theory ;)

Regarding Fordīs lineup for 2003 I tend to agree that Sainz is leaving the team but I belief that McRae status is a bit of a questionmark. McRae claims to be Britain's best rally driver but lets face it that McRaeīs best friend, Ginger, has arguably been the Britain's best rally driver over the last three years.

Thatīs something McRae is very anxious to change.

He hasnīt been able to do that with Ford but he did it with Subaru. At least there is no vacant space at Peugeot and Mitsubishi doesnīt have the car to do it.

Hello you two detectives/optimists! :D
I suppose now subaru have got the backing of 555 it could well be possible!
i mean colin must be anxous to be world champion again, after doing it in 95 and leaving subaru he never managed it again, maybe the same will happen to burnsie?
Colin cant keep riding on the crest of the wave of his world title, specialy now Burnsie is world champion, hes not the best British driver factual! and people are beginning to realise this.
although just after Burnsie won the title Motoring News gave a list of who they thought were the best drivers in Britain, and guess what? mcrae was at the top! and burnsie must be the only no.2 world champion.:D
id love Mcrae to come back to subaru, him driving ith 555 again, i think it would do the Marque alot of good if he was back? you know how fickle people are.:D

Hi Lee

Interested in joining our little scam theory club :):):):):)

McRae said in an interway the other day that Burns only had the title on loan from him. And he intended to take it back this year. Interesting comment thougt, because McRae hasnīt seen the title in almost 7 years !!!!!

And another interesting comment from McRae.
He was asked in a interview 2 or 3 years ago, which was the best car he had driven.
McRae said: "The Impreza 22B is the best, EVER"

You can immagine how happy the Ford administration were when they read the interview ;)

Hey Kitt,
Watch out for that Lee fella, he seems to be a right shady git;);););)or possibly an M-Sport spy :eek::eek:

As for McRae's comment on the 22B , As far as I know both him & Nicky Grist have still got theres...............Lucky Barstewards:D:D:D

I've got to agree though that Colin has been Britains No.2 for the past couple of years,it's just a pity that Burnsie did'nt get the press recognision that he undoubtably deserved............lets just hope that he does'nt start to get it now he's at Pug !!!

Long live the scam...................

Warning, an M-Sport spy has entered the Banbury base, I repeat, an M-Sport spy has entered the Banbury Base. All personel got to red alert, hide any SWRT documents or destroy them if neccesary and preper for battle station. This is not a drill :):):):):)

Lee will of course have to pass an extremely difficul entrance examination to be accepted into the club and will also have to come up with a very good scam theory ;)

Yehp, McRae, Grist and Lapworth each received one 22B with the serial number 000/400.

Well, Iīm not British but I still belief that there is something missing when there is no British driver among the SWRT crew and wouldnīt it be nice to welcome the MY03 redesign of the new age Impreza by signing the man who captured the WRC manufacture title for Subaru in 1995-1997.

Whoa, the scam theory is getting bigger :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
