Sorry for the late reply
I had these fitted with the Morettes. In basic terms, there is a Xenon bulb fitted into the dip beam lense which is attached to the ballast unit that produces the 25000+ volts needed to arc across the bulb and produce the light. As far as I know they come as a self contained kit. Speak to Scoobysport for more details or have a chat with Dave T-S - he has the same system in his car and I know he will be transfering it from his current MY01 into his new STI soon - so it can't be too hard (not that I'm saying Dave is no good at the DIY lighting thing (sorry Dave
), just that it must be quite a straight forwrd job).

If I read your post correctly, you still have the original bugeyes fitted. If so, you cannot fit HID to these as it has an H4 twin filament bulb. There are some HID kits around that *allegedly* deal with this but most opinion seems to be that they are expensive (£800 ish IIRC) and don't work very well.
If I assume wrongly and you do have Morettes fitted, adding HID to these is easy, and as Chris says I shall be putting mine into my STi when it arrives next week
(Chris - no insult taken mate
- you owe me a pint when I see you on Sunday
