Is there a kit that I can use to repair a hole in the corner of my headlight? The hole is about 5 mils in diameter ad is locaed at the top right hand corner of the passenger side headlight but does not interfere with the beam. Any suggestions would be appreciated to save the cost of a replacement.

no suggestions but to prevent this again try using armorfend clear plastic film that is good for lenses.

Halfords do a windscreen repair kit for 15 quid. I'm going to look at it today for exactly the job you describe. I'm not interested in grinding the surface away, just filling up the hole with some sort of plastic with the same refractive index as the glass. Even if you can't separate the glass from the reflector I reckon you could get a syringe-full in through the hole for the bulb. There must be a product like this somewhere.

JMC thanks mate but a bit too late. Anyway I prefer the exposed look! First headlight to go in nearly 20yrs of motoring!

I have looked at the Halfords kit and it doesn't seem to be appropriate (and it's 25 quid!). There's a clamp thing with suckers on that you put over the crack in your windscreen, then a syringe full of stuff that gets squeezed in over a period of about 10 minutes by the clamp thing. Then you stick a piece of clear acetate on the outside (to smooth the surface), wait till it dries and remove the acetate.

If you have a headlight hole that goes all the way through the glass, without something solid on the back of it all that's going to happen is the clamp spends 10 minutes squeezing the gunk through the hole and into the reflector cavity behind. However, the original chunk of glass is lying in the bottom of the headlamp, so I've got some superglue and I'm going to see if I can glue it back in from behind the glass. I've also got some weatherproof clear tape (well, it looks a bit on the green side to me) that I'll stick over the front. Hopefully that should hold it until I get a new headlight.

Thanks for that Carl. You have saved me £25. I have a chunk of glass inside the lamp unit which hopefully might just refill the hole and with a liberal application of supeglue, I might just get away with it. I would hate to part with £150 approx? for a new headlight especially with the damage not affecting the beam pattern. So we shall see what the weekend brings.
