Any idea what would cause this?
I'm running 215*40*17 S02's and the n/side front outer is virtually bald the rest of the tyre is fine, as are the other 3 infact

I'm thinking of just getting 2 new tyres, would it be a bad idea running F1's up front and leaving the S02's at the rear?

 

Just had exactly the same problem except mine are 16" SO2s.

Seems to have happened since I had Prodrive geometry put on last year...has worn down in little more than 10K miles

Like you I've decided to replace both fronts but I've found a guy who's managed to source 2 SO2s

I'm having them fitted later this week so if you like I'll ask if he can get hold of any more.
