After selling the Turbo I`m after a good fun car for £2.5k. Yes £2500 pounds
Has anyone any suggestions? also it must be cheapish to run so no V12 Jags etc

WOuld agree on that one. Nice AW11 would be fun. Had one about 2 years ago and didnt stop smiling. Not overly practical though. also might want wider than standard alloys to give you more grip in the wet. Well, then again its fun putting it sideways! lol. WHat about a golf GTi if you need more seats? wasnt there one on here for sale? plenty of stuff out there to tweak it with.

I got my Fiesta RS Turbo (moondust silver 62k) for £2800 - 6 months and not a prob - changed the wheels and the handling has gone from dodgy to great got a chip/actuator for £77 that will take it from 133bhp to about 160-170bhp. Cheap performance motoring - no power-steering though!

I sold up and currently drive a car similar to the value you talk about!

I drive a H-reg VW Golf GTI 8v, it has uprated/lowered dampers & springs, exhaust, air inductor, Momo steering wheel. It's only done 89,000 miles, has a full service history and all the MOT's and it is very clean to add to the bargain!!

IT's amazing fun and handles brilliantly!

Look carefully as there are lot's of dogs out there.

Got to agree with the Mk1 MR2 idea. But then I might be just a little bit biased:

http://www.benerridge.freeserve.co.uk/mymr2b.htm

Elsewhere on the site I've put a comparison of running costs for it and some other cars (including the Scooby!). Maybe of use if you're thinking of saving some pennies?

cletteridge -- I've seen your site before. That's what I mentioned the AW11 MR2 -- I'm thinking of getting one to run as a trackday car (though I'll probably keep it road-legal to allow for the occasional weekend blast).

Toyota Celica GT4 - Im looking to import one soon for £2500.

Cheaper than the scoob, cheap insurance and nice handling.

I also agree, the Legacy is a lot of car for the money.

Regards

Ive had a 2.0eGT if only for briefly and Id agree, 40 MPG is pretty optimistic. I wouldnt say theyre horrendously bad either but I doubt fuel economy is a high priority for anyone if performance is born in mind.

Even the notoreously good Vtecs arent exactly "economical" like your grandads diesel.

Horses for courses, and the cars we know and love dont come that cheap.

Regards

Happy Hunting

I sold my Scoob rercently and now run a J reg 205 DTurbo... paid £1275 for it..(bought a house..) the good thing is it'll do a ton everywhere...

I love the look on victims faces as i pass them on the lanes at about 80/90, once they've realised it a diesel......LOL

I've had a couple try and overtake me, but then i just drop them on the twisty bits... just keep your foot in...

Still miss my Scoob though...

James
