BL 15 February 2002, 13:35 C600 costs £700!!! C500 costs £550 scoobyrob 15 February 2002, 13:47 bloke at work got a mate who owns a shop. £580 chiark 15 February 2002, 14:36 Forget the price, make sure you get a quality install. If the bloke's good, do it. This is one thing that is so utterly dependent on install quality that price isn't the be-all and end all. Saying that, if he's a mate's mate then at least you'll be able to kick someone if it's shoddy :) BL 15 February 2002, 17:38 Make sure the bloke is VSIB accredited & knows about Cliffords. There have been many reports of malfunctioning systems due to poor installs. fozzyboy 18 February 2002, 16:39 If you know of a decent fitter who does them for a good price, buy the alarm seperately... Have a look at the prices on here... http://www.carsecurity1.co.uk/mainmenu.htm fastfox13 28 February 2002, 09:36 I have contacted Clifford the see if carsecurity1 or the trading name Tight Guard Security are Clifford dealers, they say not !!! If this is the case then you will have no warranty on the system. If you did get one from these people what do you do if there was a problem - phone them or the installer ???? My mate got stung like that of being passed from pillar to post when he brought a system over the net and got a local non approved fitter to do the job. Cost him way more money in the end ! Be aware. audio g man 28 February 2002, 09:56 Listen to Chiark. Whether the company is VSIB approved or not doesn't make alot of difference, If the fitter nows his stuff, chances are your'll be ok. Good job i'm a Thatcham approved clifford installer, comes in quite handy sometimes. fastfox13 28 February 2002, 20:30 Audio g man. I knew there was Thatcham approved equipment but not Thatcham approved installers. Are you an Authorised Clifford DEALER or just an installer been on the Clifford installation course. It would appear there is some confussion not only with your reply but a number of "installers" on the forum. audio g man 01 March 2002, 21:50 Sorry, Didn't word that very well. I'm an installer (not dealer) approved by Clifford and Serpi Star to install their products inc. Thatcham approved products. www.mscva.com 01 March 2002, 22:04 lol @ thatcham approved installer. fastfox13 06 March 2002, 12:55 How do you become an approved installer for an alarm company. Don't you have to be an approved dealer. If you aren't an authorised dealer, then 1/ how do you get the product - obviously not from Clifford 2/who covers the warrenty on the product ? clifford god 25 March 2003, 22:56 you don't have to be vsib approved to install any alarm system why pay £1000 a year for a little book of certificates. "good bad after money" ( put those words into a sentance) chiark 26 March 2003, 10:51 you don't have to be vsib approved to install any alarm system why pay £1000 a year for a little book of certificates. "good bad after money" ( put those words into a sentance) Sorry, but you're giving downright bad advice now. You need VSIB accreditation for your insurance company to recognise the install. End of story. *PLEASE* stop spamming this board with commercial advertising and bad advice. Your posts will be deleted without explanation unless your aprpoach changes. Nick. Big Goon 26 March 2003, 19:13 My C600 cost me £600 fitted and was a complete mess, don't buy on price alone or you'll end up having to have it re-fitted like I did. :( TonyBurns 27 March 2003, 21:37 Mine cost 650 (with extras ;)) fitted, and it was a perfect install :D:D:D:D:D Tony:D |
