Question

Can you find out what exchange your BT lines terminate at?

Our offices are approx 2 to 3 miles from a town that is listed on http://www.broadband1.bt.com/for_wor...and_events.asp as having the exchange ADSL enabled but we can't get it. I'm wondering if we are too far away or our lines go in the other direction to a different exchange.

I'd be interested to know for home, as I can't get ADSL there either and I don't know what exchange we connect to.

Can EPS 8 or 9 circuits go beyond a single exchange or are they local loop only? This is the another option I'm looking at.

TIA,

Chris.

dial 17070
select option 3, then option 1, then option 2.
It will say 'please clear down' - hangup and it will ring you back in 20-30 seconds with the distance from your location to the exchange.

Pretty handy.

Cheers

Cheers Simon.

Some results though. Our office lines are only a month old so don't return any results (fair enough). However, the nearest McDonalds which starts with the same two digits doesn't show up either and that's been open a year or more.

We've had the same phone number at home for over 15 years but that doesn't exist either.

Hmmm!

I found that test yesterday Rob. The answer being 5 metres!Perhaps not.

Chris

EPS 9s are (currently) local loop only...We tried to get a EPS 9 DP to DP in Docklands to do SDSL for a client and BT would not do it. We're trying to get them to change their minds ....!

E-Mail me direct if you want any more info/help

Cheers

Jeff

PS...If you can get 8 more companies on your exchange together and order SDSL from us I can get the Exchange DSLAM installed...!
