How good is the SAT NAV? compared to say Tomtom or the BMW SAt NAV if you have ever ued one...?

The SatNav is very good, never had any experience of the BMW system but it's comparable with the TomTom for ease of use IMO. Plus of course it uses the Traffic Management Channel to pick up details of any roadworks, accidents or slow moving traffic so you can avoid these if needs be.

It does however go one better than the TomTom system in that once you hook it up to your car's Speed Sense line it can still track your movements in areas of weak/no signal - it has an inbuilt 3D gyro which helps guide the system as to left & right turns, going up or downhill, accelerating or braking which when coupled with the Speed info from the ECU helps maintain a very accurate position should you loose GPS Satellite coverage for any reason (tunnels for instance).
