Default Replacement Keys - Main stealer only?

Hi I need to get a 2nd key for my 99 Impreza. It has the immobilser fob as part of it.

Are these keys main stealer only or is there somewhere else that can help?

just found a seller on ebay sellin em for £15+2 with quite a few available. They do a cut+code service for £30 apparently but no way am I sending my only key off to a random on ebay to do this, no matter the feedback. Anyone know how much main stealer would charge to get key cut and coded?

from what I've read and heard myself, sure the main stealers make the numbers up off the top of their heads! I wasn't quote quite that much all in when I rang one of them up north (still about £140 IIRC though!)

Sure I've read stories of people gettin em done for a lot less than this though.

Standfast Security, Margate. Cut and coded one for me around 2 years ago, £15 while-u-wait.

last time I checked, an independent key cutter could do it for 50 quid, as the transponder chip is a very high tech one. My local subaru the key costs 45 quid plus vat, and the programming is 25 quid.
This was only a few months back I checked.

I got a blank key from a main dealers £45, took it to a key shop and had it cut for £3 and took it back to the dealers where they programmed it for free
