BenScoobWannabe 06 February 2002, 20:31 Hi Mark,
Is that Barclays as in Barclaycard or is it a different company altogether. Can they quote online?
Thanks
Ben
AHall_at_home 06 February 2002, 21:53 Privilege just quoted me (24 3yrs no claims) £1325 for myself and my girlfriend (21) on an unmodified 97 turbo (with tracker).
Shame I've got a modified sport and they would only offer >£1400
mparsonage 07 February 2002, 00:26 22yrs old, 0yrs NCB

The wrong side of £1500 :(

saxovts2000 10 February 2002, 20:10 I heard from Martyn that Green light are meant to be very good, I haven't got their number (if anyone has could you give it to me please). If you ask him about the young guy that walked in and bought a new Sti who is 23 with 5 years NCB for £1200 not bad!!
nigelward 11 February 2002, 09:18 Greenlight are on 01277 263030.
Nick Cook 11 February 2002, 19:24 Adam M - sounds good, who is that with?
Jen 12 February 2002, 13:55 Adam said with Privilege...

6 points for nobbing around infront of plod ;)
Full NCB
MY98 Wagon Turbo - no mods declared
£1200 fully comp with ASA underwritten by AXA
They wanted £1550 when I renewed but then came back with this figure when I told them to "go away, stop being silly and have a rethink" :D
Nick Cook 14 February 2002, 17:00 Getting totally hacked off with this insurance lark - it seems to be an absolute lottery!!!
I'm 25 with 3 yrs NCB, living in London (N10 postcode), parked on the street, have one SP30 from 1998 but no previous claims. Best quote so far (inc Business Use)on a MY02 WRX with Cat1 etc is £2700!!!
Getting more frustrated by the minute!
WRX Youngster 14 February 2002, 20:27 Im 22 and drive a 95 WRX import, turbo, insured through tesco, cost me £1400, i had to have a CAT1 alarm and tracker though. I did have quotes up to £6000 though, that made me laugh, nearly as much as the car!!
HighlandScooby 14 February 2002, 21:50 23 years old, 5 years NCB, 3 points for an sp30
£1000 with privilege, with protected NCB on a standard uk MY00.
They include up to £1000 stereo cover and want £25 xtra for a full s/s system and air filter! Also said that thered be no extra charge for mods that didnt add power.2nd year ive been with them and very happy with their service

Thanks
Ben
sandycam 15 February 2002, 18:00 Privilege but take a look at my thread for insurance with no tracker that should be just below this.
Nick Cook 15 February 2002, 18:24 Privilege just quoted me £3173!!! I appreciate my postcode is not very friendly but so far I haven't had a quote that's anywhere near the ones stated on this forum. There seems to be no logic to insurance at all.
stephen30 15 February 2002, 18:30 26 Unmodified MY97 Sport. 2yrs no claims (given full no claims) £833. Citroen Insurance, underwritten by Privilege.
Steve
JamieMacdonald 15 February 2002, 20:33 I don't understand this insurance bo11ox, you seem to get a different quote depending on who you speak to and the tiniest detail can make a BIG difference - e.g. whether you have a turbo or not ;)
I'm 22, 5 years no claims, clean licence, tracker, cat1, garaged, 'standard' MY97 UK Turbo......
£900 (protected NCD).
N.B. as I have done 'Pass Plus', Privilege give me an extra 10% off - EVERY YEAR, I think!
JohnMcC 16 February 2002, 05:58 Jen - what exactly do they mean by 'previous experience' ? Hopefully not a dumb question (it is late!! :D ). Do they mean that you must have previously owned and insured a 'performance' car, or that you must literally have had 'experience' ?
Im 23 (24 in October) and would be looking to get a new WRX this year some time.
I have off street parking, but only 2 years NCB (becomes 3 in 6 or 7 months). By the time I get hold of one, I will probably have climbed up to 3 yrs NCB (I didnt crash or anything - well, I did many moons ago :) , but I was on a company insurance scheme for the first few years of me driving, hence no NCB :( - had a big off during that time....)
I should be able to get a decent quote shouldnt I?
Please....??!! :D
JohnMcC 16 February 2002, 06:06 Nick Cook - Ive had some £1600/£1700 on line quotes come back. Ive found that with these on line quotes you can play around with the different elements (age/NCB/excess/postcode etc...) and see what really effects the premium. Might be worth a try...
Jamie - Is the 'Pass Plus' thing the one you have to do within a year of your test, or something? If so, can anyone recommend a similar kind of course (that isnt too expensive) that you can do at anytime, and that would lower insurance...
[Edited by JohnMcC - 2/16/2002 5:10:07 AM]
JamieMacdonald 16 February 2002, 16:16 John - Yep, I started my Pass Plus within a week if doing my test - ther last thing I wanted to do was take more lessons but it only cost me 70 quid and got me 30% off my first premium = 300 quid!
I think only new drivers can take it, but when I took out insurance with Privilege (about 3 years after my test) I thought 'what the hell' and sent the certificate to them anyway. I received a letter back saying 'congratulations for gaining Pass Plus, this entitles you to 10% off your premium'.
Which was nice. :)

Infinity 18 February 2002, 07:51 23 years old, MY00 with cat 1 alarm no tracker. 4 years ncb no convictions or accidents in the last 5 years. 1000 pound with protected ncb, 850 without ncb through privillege. Scoobysport backbox itg air filter declared. 3000 pound ice system did not effect premium. Did you know direct line and privellege are the same company. So watch what you tell them as they keep everything on computer.
