Anyone with some details of companys that do this type of policy and what level of cover they normally provide?
Would I need trade plates for this type of policy? If I did where would I get these from?
Thanks MW

A litle birdy told me this:

Try Crowthorne Insurance ( 0870 741 88 48 )They do motor traders policies.

The cheapest is a "Road Risks only" policy where by you are covered to drive ANY vehicle on the road but it is 3rd party only cover so the vehicle your in isnt covered if you have an accident

The policy does not specify a registration number, so you can tax any car that is registered to you. Trade plates are only used if the vehicle isnt taxed so its not directly related to the insurance.
Typically the policy will include useage of "social domestic and Pleasure, use to and from a place of work, use for road testing and appraisal" and will cover you to drive(3rd party cover only) a customers vehicle, your own vehicle, or any vehicle under your control.

You can also make it a joint policy with a friend who is your "business partner" so that both names appear on the Certificate which means your both covered for any vehicle and you can tax vehicles that are in either names.

This insurance isnt cheap, it all depends on what your after.

I believe that there are fewer companies doing Traders Policies these days so there wont be much choice.

All said in good faith.

Good Luck
