View Full Version : INDUCTION KITS/ AIR FILTERS
terzo314 17 July 2008, 16:13 was just wondering how many people have induction kits on their scoobys. have heard alot of people say not to put them on, because it causes fueling problems...
But thinking of getting one to achieve that awesome chattering sound, but don't want to cause problems.
gazza_howard 17 July 2008, 16:24 I've heard the same and was recommended not to use an induction kit on mine, so I went for a green panel filter instead.
tolster 17 July 2008, 17:16 Panel filter for me as well:thumb:

terzo314 17 July 2008, 18:18 yeah i think most people go for just the panel filter. not sure if it's worth risking anything. considering i have just had an engine rebuild.
Got the APS CAK and turbo inlet pipe on mine, sounds aggressive as f#ck when I come off the pedal as you can hear the air being dumped into the pipe from under the front wing. Well worth it just for the noise :norty:

terzo314 18 July 2008, 08:08 thanks for the replies, has anyone heard of people having problems with induction kits and if so, what/???
den
dogpole 18 July 2008, 12:51 induction kits can screw up the maf on 99/00 models. Not a problem for me as i'm running without the maf.
afaik the MY98 maf is stronger.
:)
terzo314 18 July 2008, 14:41 can you just take the maf off then??:wonder:
war1974 19 July 2008, 11:41 no but mine has hks kit on it and no problems reported so far!!
think its down to choice as with everything personally i would go cold air feed or panel filter just mine had hks on when i got it
scoobyboy1 19 July 2008, 18:32 Fitted a Big cone K&N filter on my brothers MY98 STi, Had it sitting on my shelf in my garage for ages as it come off my old car, decided to fit it to see how it would perform and It's made a very nice induction roar(removed the standard inner snorkle out the wing, and put a cold air feed pipe to the filter) So far he has had no problems.
scoobyboy1 19 July 2008, 18:34 can you just take the maf off then??:wonder:
Not unless you want the car to go bang!!!!:nono:
If you want to go Maf-less then you need a new Ecu such as Autonics or Simtek etc.
dogpole 19 July 2008, 21:48 can you just take the maf off then??:wonder:
i'm running a motec m800
:)
bigvern 20 July 2008, 11:56 Taking out the resonator in the wing is supposed to make things a bit noisier. Just a Simota panel filter in mine but I will be taking out the resonator next week.
terzo314 20 July 2008, 12:06 Has anyone got a hks mushroom filter on their scooby?? as this is what i am thinking of getting!
Den
war1974 20 July 2008, 22:24 yes although there are loads of others around that do the same thing
again its down to choice a filter will give induction roar but not a great deal else on its own.
