Its a shame isnt it; that this is where SN has ended up?

To be fair where it says Driving Dynamics on the forum homepage, i think the second or third example topic is donuts. So i think he is perfectly allowed to ask this question without fear of humiliation.
I personally wouldn't do them but know how, just because i know how to doesn't make me less of a person. Yet no better than the person asking simply because they don't know.

Nice warm welcome to a new member of the forum, thats what makes this place so great.

If he wants to do Donuts and doesnt know how, why not give advice ?. Its good enough for the WRC and Drift drivers to do them, you have the car and fancy a go then go enjoy yourself.

Just as well some of you guys dont drive in the WRC or if you actually won something the celebrations would be a right spectacle......... NOT !!!.

at the end of the day, as long as its done on private land and not the local tescos carpark who really cares what he does with his car!! he brought it and has to pay for new tyres so if he wants to do donuts or j turns or what ever then thats up to him.

Ok, ok... I'll be the helpful one..... I don't know...
Obviously you have ALOT more traction in an AWD car so the trick is to get the wheels spinning. There's 2 ways that you can do this; one is not very kind to the transmission, and the other is horrible to it..... (you will need a large area such as a runway to experiment).
Are we all sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin....
Method 1.
Set off gently in 1st gear with full lock applied (either left or right, let's not worry about semantics - let's get on with "some antics"!!!). Build your speed up while keeping full lock on the steering until you feel the front end break away (understeer). This is a good speed. Whilst in this fine balancery of speed versus lateral grip, quickly dip the accelerater to give you some front end grip, then floor the throttle to unsettle the car and apply a mountain of oomph to the driven wheels. Hey presto!!! Keep the power applied and you'll be spinning in clouds of smoke until you get oil starvation.
Method 2. (less sympathetic).
Park the car a little to the left or right of the centre of the runway. Turn the wheel in the OPPOSITE direction (this method can be a little unpredictable to the uninitiated..) until full lock is achieved. Select first gear, but do not release the clutch. Hold the revs at at around the redline (bouncing off the limiter is fine). With a very rapid movement (read: immediate), release the clutch. Hold on. This will result in one of the following things;- a) Your gearbox will shout "I don't know?!?!? Too much stuff?!?!?!". b) A driftshaft will say "I'm getting out here". c) You will do a VERY impressive donut!!!

To sum up, it great fun to try (yes, I'm a big kid..), but I think of it like entering a Casino. Only go in there with money you're prepared to lose.

I don't know why people are taking the piss because the guy wants to do donuts. If he bought the car to have fun in and abuse, that's his choice, and each to their own.

I personally don't see the point in buying a subaru if you want to drive every where at 40 and spend the all your spare time polishing it: but I would'nt take the piss out of someone for doing that.

So carry on...just try not to wreck it in the process :D

Welcome to Scoobynet by the way!

Learning to do donuts may seem irresponsible and easy to do.....in a big open space.....anyone can do it, BUT you also learn how the car reacts when sliding.....

So good question I think.:)

2.0 with td04. Goes really well for the size of it. Think there around 240bhp
