Just bought a silver edition Dsiclok and I can't believe it can ever really work properly ...

It fits, locks and swivels freely. Sure. BUT, if you grip the disc firmly, wrap your fingers around the back and grip the steering wheel with your finger ends and pull against the Disclok I reckon there is enough leverage there to steer the friggin thing whilst the lock is still attached!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can someone explain how the hell this thing can possibly work effectively?!

Find yourself an empty carpark and give it a go :). I'm confident that no-one can drive my car off while my disclock's fitted. I don't think anyone could comfortably turn the wheel more than 45 degrees, or change gear with the lock in place and still maintain a grip that allows them steering control.

Cool. Good point about the changing gear. It's not the be all and end all I suppose, but it'll sure cause an inconvenience.

However, my steering lock doesn't appear to be working corretcly. Key comes out (ignition in lock position) but the steering wheel doesn't 'clunk', but still has some movement in it. Is this normal??

Erm, doesn't the big arm bar slap the windscreen when you need more than one turn of lock?

Well actually no it doesn't. I thought it would, but I drive with the steering column in the lowest position and when turning the disclok the bar clears the windscreen.

Raising the steering column is a ueseless idea cos it can easily be lowered.

I have to turn the wheel about 100-120 degrees clockwise to get my steering lock to engage. Once it's locked, there's not really more than about a quarter inch of movement.

I tried this, cos thought the same. I managed to turn out of my drive, but it took me about 10 minutes :D

Sounds to me like driving your car in a car park with the disclock on could be the biggest craze since those funny little silver scooters.

If u apply your steering lock before attaching disklok its gonna be pretty hard for anyone to break the steering lock isn't it??
(assuming your steering lock actually works)

Get your friendly local policeman to chase you and see if you can get away with the disklock in place. I don't think you will get 100m before he catches you. He may even give you a little headstart before he starts pedaling his bicycle.

I did see one that was removed from a sierra saphire once, but the immobiliser stopped them from taking the car.
I suppose it can be done but it has to be cut in the right place to remove it from the wheel.
i think they are great and they help against car theft !
Anyway cutting through one with a hacksaw must have been very noisy. "i would wake up" if mine was removed that way !!

On the subject of disclocks......

I bought a bright yellow one. Hated fitting it as it looked an eyesore and looking pants when people were admiring the mota!!

So I colour coded it and put a nice STI decal on it. (sonic blue with white decal)

Looks the dogs ......

Love to fit it now and show it off.
