I wonder if anyone could help? I have a brother aged 25 who owns a Honda Civic VTI, who was done for drink driving last year. He is about to get his licence back and has been shopping round for quotes, the best so far is £2,500 from Budget and £4,500 from Privilege. He has full no claims and did a course to reduce his ban from 12 months to 9 months and he was only fined the minimum. Any sugesstions would be gratefull appreciated.

Spoke to Admiral direct a few nights ago and the customer advisor said they will no longer (as a matter of policy) take on new clients who have had a drink drive conviction in the previous five or ten years.
Not sure if they will continue to insure current customers though.
I think that if you buy a new car with free insurance now it also specifies that you must not have a drink drive related conviction.
Sorry cant really help with suggestions other than buy a much, much cheaper insurance group car. Other than that how about an advanced driving course by ROSPA or IAM ?

Drink driving is considered the worst offence, it will double at least your insurance, if they will insure you nowdays, i got banned for speeding about 8 years ago and it put my bike insurance up by 150%.....
