I'm with Greenlight already and they are superb just as they were with my old Golfs, CTR and now my Impreza STI.

My question is how do insurers look at decats as strictly speaking anyone with a reasonably new car who removes the cat is not running a road legal car and would void their insurance right?

So, am I wrong thinking this and is it legal to insure a car without a CAT when it should have one or are there just lots of people driving around without a valid insurance policy?

How do you all get along with this if you've gone down the decat route?

Would be VERY interested if some insurers would add their 10p.

ive had mine decatted for 2 years and declared with both greenlight and a-plan. technically u can fail ur mot for having no cats but u could also fail an mot for having a blown bulb and i dont think they would refuse to pay out on that

Insured my 2005 Sti with Greenlight recently with a ful decat Milltek exhaust. They told me it either had to have one cat fitted or pass an MOT emissions test. I have to provide the computer printout from my test which was done at a local garage as proof of it passing, and they seemed happy with that.

Hope this helps !!!!

I jost spoke to my insurance company reference the decat and they said it would not effect my insurance with them, that is with e-sure. although they did advice it might not pass the MOT.

Interesting :)

Might just have an eye on a decat + remap now then!
