Anybody done it? I'm sure I've asked once before, and someone on here told me his company fitted loads.

The reason I ask is that I've bought two, but the instructions are just a series of not-very-good drawings, with little or no detail.

I REALLY don't want to start cutting roof timbers until I'm sure I'm doing it right;)

The Wickes leaflet looks as if you make the opening in the timbers the same size as the window, but the instructions with the window appear to have the window fixed to the battens that hold the tiles???

Any info/advice gladly received.
TIA, Alcazar

If your cutting any rafters out you will have to put trimmers in top and bottom. The window can sit on the tile battons as the flashings still have to be fitted, its best to fit another tile batton all around the opening for the window brackets to sit and to get a good fixing. Never fitted a wickes roof windows but ive done plenty velux windows dont no if theres a difference between the 2. This might help http://installers.velux.co.uk/ click on trimmed opening sizes, then standard instulation

Thanks for that, I've read, and re-read the leaflet, (well, looked at it's pictures) and what you say seems to make sense. All I need now is some extra rafter wood and some tile batten wood.

Can't buy the latter until I've cut the hole though, and measured it:(

Oh, and a day or so when it DOESN'T rain!:(

Yeah, done that fitting u-PVC windows: Metoffice said fine, TV weather said fine, it was fine.
Started the job and two hours later it was thrashing down!

Ended up frame-sealing the INSIDE, and doing the outside a day later when it had dried off:rolleyes:
