View Full Version : Long(er) lens for a D70/D300?

I've already got a 70-300 Nikon lens which I like, but would quite like to get into more wildlife shots, so need something longer.

Three questions:

Do I go for another zoom like the Sigma 50-500?

Should I look for a used 500 or 600 mm Nikon lens, if so, what will work with my choice of camera?

Can I use an extender with any lens? Eg the Nikon, Kenko, or Sigma 1.4X?

TIA, Alcazar

I have the 50-500, and whilst it is a great lens, it ain't fast, so you are gonna need very good light when using at the long end, or a tripod, which isn't always necessarily convenient when shooting wildlife.

I'd go for something fast, or with VR (or both!). I believe the 80-400 VR is a good lens for the money.

Is that a Sigma lens?
