Hi All,

Putting up some shots from my trip to Kruger National Park in South Africa last November. 10 days 7,000 photos, lots of fun!

These are from day 1, Comments and critique welcome.

EDIT: Seems the forum is compressing them slightly, click on the image for full size.

Cheers

Mark

All shots were with a Sony A700.

I've got some Kudu in my fridge...

...now I know what they really look like!

Some nice shots there.... well done. I really must go to a game reserve sometime soon, but it's enough hassle travelling to SA without having to haul a bucket load of bodies and big white lenses around as well.

It looks like you used a 70-200 with 2xTC most of the time, did you find yourself yearning for extra length (fnnnar, fnnnar) or was that sufficient? I guess the TC didn't make much difference, losing you 2 stops, as it was all shot in bright sunlight.

Thanks for the kind words.

I basically left the 2x TC on for most of the time, I did have some Sigma primes with me (300 & 400) but the 70-200 is just so good even with the TC that I hardly ever used them. I had a Sony AF 500mm F8 mirror with me on an A100 body for when I wanted longer than 400. The Crop factor meant I had 600mm equivalent with the 70-200 and 750mm equivalent with the 500 which ain't too bad :) If I get the cash together, I may get the 300mm F2.8 G but it's currently about £3750 in the UK :(

I'm REALLY curious to know what Sony will be releasing at Photokina to go with the new FF Pro body. I know they have a White Super telephoto in the works, but will it be 400, 500 or 600mm? And what will is cost! Still I will get to play with it at least briefly I hope as I'm going to Photokina for 3 days (and then down to the Nurburgring for a day! :D)

Cheers

Mark
