View Full Version : Is there a market for 1960's Amatuer Photogrpher magazines ?
Funkii Munkii 19 June 2008, 12:56 I've been cleaning out the loft and in one corner I found a strange contraption which I believe to be photography based, it's like a big lamp on a pole with a flat square base, further investigations to be carried out once it's out of the gloom, in the meantime I came across a handful of 1960's AP mags in pristine condition and wondered if there was a market for these sorts of mags.
Cheers

Oh well, i'm more than happy with the Bakelite G.P.O 332F Telephone I found in the same box, ex ministry of defence, still has the internal extension list in the draw, I think I will be keeping that. I also found a box of 1940's copies of Warlord, which disintegrated when I picked them up :(

LOL :D I've got one of those in a box under the stairs, only a basic one I used in the 80's for my GCSE in B&W photography but it taught me a lot so I've never managed to get rid of it, and the rest of the old darkroom from Mum's house.

Sounds like an enlarger, used for printing negatives, usually in black & white. Donate it to your local school.
Richard.

It must be 50 years old at least, maybe the local museum ;)
Once I have dug it out I'll post up a piccy, it looks a very very basic model, it wont be for a while as I have a bit of painting to complete this weekend, but I'm sure she will crack the whip and make sure i complete the loft as well

An enlarger is a very basic thing. Anything you buy today will be essentially identical to anything 50 years old, and equally useable after a bit of dusting.
I think many schools still use film equipment in photograpaphy classes. It's a good way to understand the basics in general, and also great fun. Of course, you have to lock the door to prevent accidental visitors ruining your work. I spent a lot of time in there with my girlfriend :norty:
