Default My PS3 is broken!

Bought at Christmas, 60GB model - no longer reads discs of any kind.

Telephoned Sony on Saturday, and they're exchanging mine for another today.

Question - is there any way I can backup my saved games onto a USB stick or something ? When I check each saved game it offers a "COPY" option, but only to my other (jap) profile ?

Plug in a USB stick and copy them onto there. You need to go to "saved data utility" under "games".

Are they swapping it for a 40gb?

If you're wanting to maintain the backwards capability of it you might have to wait a while to get it back...

I've got a 60GB model, so they're offering me a re-conditioned 60GB replacement.

There's a certain irony with one of the factors of your getting a ps3 decision being based on reliablity....It's lucky you're a nice guy speccy or i'd be gloating

hats off to Sony

Reported the fault saturday and they've just exchanged mine with my new one (van turned up today, tuesday lunchtime)

The unit appears to look completely new, complete with protective adhesive stickers and everything.

...same policy as Microsoft - you don't think they give you NEW Xbox360's do you, when you send yours back to MS for repair ?!

no 60GB PS3 units left - so they offer a re-con 60GB
