That is how I found it, didnt even have the dcecency to bodge it properly and wrap insulating tape around it.
Now if I dig the wall out around it and replace this with a proper sealed junction box will it be OK, we are having the walls plastered and maybe tiled again at a later date.

nice bit of work!
I'm not an electrician, but I'd probably cut a single backbox in, tidy up the "connection" and make good around with a blanking plate over the face of the box.

Seriously!!
I'd investigate a bit (lot) further - those wires don't look anywhere near enough to support a cooker circuit!!!

Cooker wire on my cooker is thick grey coated wire, not very technical I know ;)

I was wrong with the wiring, it is a link to a plug socket, that didnt become aparant till later on, I have sunk in a junction box, and plastered over it. :D

You dont wanna know, every socket and switch I have taken off has been appaling. Strange extensions that are not need etc etc, as you pull the socket off the wires just come out of the back as they wernt done up. I have rectified all of this now.

Which is against BS7671 (wiring regs) and almost as bad..
Junction boxes need to be accessible, the best solution was the blanking plate (other than replacing the cable)
Id also be concerned as to whether it runs in an allowable zone.
