HI whats the bets method to paint the breeze blocks in my garage ?

They are not the tradition breeze block but the thermal type that all new house are built with these days ?

Is it better to seal them witha 50 50 mix of water / PVA first and them emulsion on top or

use masonary paint ?

& any idea where to get a cheap paint sprayer from - or would I be better with paint brushed / roller ?

Cheers

Check out my garage thread,i painted my thermals with a 3" brush and some cheap paint £5 for 7.5l no diluting and it covered the joints and left a lovely finish in 1 coat,it was nice paint and think must have been good quality at a good price as cheap paint usually smells strange and this was ok.Got it from jtf in lincs.

use masonry paint and should be no need to pva it or use a watered down mix.

Im a decorator...no need to seal as its inside (i take it) but personally as im lzy, a long piled roller should do the job, but if i was doing it on a job i'd paint with a brush, n i dont mean stroking it...with breeze blocks u gotta dab the buggers, lol to get all in the holes (depending what blocks u have by the way) but using a brush definitely, jus use stone wall masonry paint from wickes mate, or from wherever

Got some cheap paint last night from B&Q and cheap brush went on fine - its not soaked in much as the blocks are the thermal ones (wavy pattern to them) and not the traditional air holes look to them.
Looks ok but need to get another brush to dab the paint into the holes and some more paint !
Might look better with two coats but it looks a lot better than it did !

in that case mate do the 2nd coat with a roller, ull lose the horrid looking brush marks! also if u used a cheap brush look out for bristles that came off on the surface, i know its only a garage wall but hey, lol

good luck with it :)
