I have the same problem with my bugeye at the moment.

I have changed the drop links and ARB bushes and still get the knocking / rattling.

I will be checking the strut mounts shortly.

Please let me know how you get on

I had just such an annoyingy rattle on my Forester, turned out one of the bonnet hinges was rusty inside and created a clearance between the 'pin' and 'surround' and the bonnet was rattling up and down, replacement from a breaker and sorted!

Have just remove the strut and checked the top mount which has quite a bit of play.

Does anyone know where I can get any replacement top strut mounts?

How did you get on with the service mate did they find anything wrong or worn. I have checked my top mounts and changed them but still knocking. I have ordered a pair of front struts and will be fitting soon. I'll let you know the outcome.
