Hi,

I have just had my renewal from A-Plan and its higher than last year!

Only change is i have one years extra no claims bonus and i have moved from MK17 to CT1

Granted the new postcode isnt quite as nice as the last but does it really make that much of a difference?!?!

My main gripe however is with the vast majority of 'specialist' companies out there. I have tried Gary at KM and he said not to even bother with a quote (and this was before i said it was modified)

I have tried Greenlight who say UK cars are ok but then i 'didnt match their criteria' whatever the hell that means. I have tried Bell and they wont do modified cars.

Im really quite frustrated by the whole thing especially when threads like this one http://bbs.scoobynet.com/insurance-19/663884-how-much-do-under-25yr-olds-pay-insurance.html pop up and it seems half the people on there are insured with companies that wont touch me despite my being at least of equal standing with age/points/NCB/mods etc

Basically, can i ask all you modified car owners to post up who you are with (other than the above mentioned companies) and give me a contact number or website.

For the people that work at the above companies (KM, Greenlight etc etc) just for your reference confused.com came up with a standard car quote of £446 for me so how you cant even quote for me is rediculous!

PS I have always been impressed with Tony@greenlight in the past with his helpfulness to all, customers or not, so if watching please can you look into this for me as i would like to return the compliment with some actual business

Regards
Chris

FWIW we can quote you, but the price you've already had is so good we wouldn't be able to beat it.

In fairness to Gary, he is spot on and i appologise. My wording was poor.

Im still confused how the specialist companies are so far off being competitive though.

Is there any reason i cant get a competitive quote from the specialists?

Depends what you class as competitive really.

Bear in mind that when i first got my Impreza i was 24, and paid £1400 to insure it, and that was with a big discount.

Agreed with Gary, when I firsted had my car insured I was 23 and paid £1500 with A-Plan. Now 25 and with Gary paying £950 with all mods covered like for like.
