i am after some advice about an under sink water softener,it is a blue LIFF filter housing with the inlet and outlet unions at the bottom and is about 8" tall.i have been trying to get a new filter for it but can only find cartridge types.
i unscrewed the top to see what was fitted and it is just filled with what looks like glass marbles:wonder: and no filter cartridge.
so can anyone tell me where i can source a replacement filter kit? tried googling but every company i email does not bother to reply.
cheers
A photo would be good as it sound strange, the "glass marbles" are usually resin but need a salt supply to coat/regenerate them to act as a true softener ????

that makes a bit of sense as when i opened it i noticed it was full of white stuff which i presumed was limescale, but may well of been the salt you mentioned.
have a look at this link it is very similar to the housing on the right of screen only 8" with the water connections at the top.

thanks for the reply
This now sounds like someone has used a cartridge filter housing and filled it with siliphos balls which are used in the combimate below.
