Default What to go for, for a Fast Road Car

WRX 2003, Been looking for a while to upgrade but im unsure what to go for,
My Impreza running 340bhp, Used as a Fast Road car.

Was looking at the Power station T25 kit but is this Over the top for a fast road car?

Any advice would be great..

If it was me I'd go for:

24mm rear anti-roll bar
22mm front anti-roll
solid drop links front and rear
the anti-lift kit
and then alignment

See how you get on with this, will make a huge difference and you might not feel the need for coilovers. In a lot of cases for fast road use your better off with standard dampers and the above. This should come to around 480 quid if bought from the right places plus the alignment on top.

You could then go for springs (either eibach or prodrive) for not much more

I think it's best to do it in stages and see how you feel with the car, you could even break down the above starting with the rear. At the end of the day it's down to personal pref and driving style.

Ps.. I'm a classic driver but i think the same applies / is best for the new age to.

agree with above, you can do this in stages.

hi m8 yeah i would do a group buy. someone would need to collate it and parts would have to be paid for up front geo

I just had
24mm rear anti-roll bar

the anti-lift kit
and then alignment

Fitted at RCM last week and the car feels amazing no joke its feels like a much lighter car great turn in and none of the dreaded under steer the boys at RCM no how to set up a car

Was wondering about the difference in none track driveability between the 22mm and 24mm arbs.How do you find the 24's?
Also,how do people find endlinks and stoutmounts-are they neccessary?
All this is for an 02 WRX wagon

Not sure really I upgraded from just a rear 22m ARB but the package now is incredible really don’t know what part of the package has transformed the drive

After upgrading the ARB and drop links do you have to be on your toes when driving on the wet (see lift-off oversteer)?

hi
a couple of people have been championing the merits of bigger ARB. well i bought and fitted a Whiteline 22mm rear ARB and heavy duty droplinks to go with and fitted them couple days ago. Was out with my downhill bike yesterday so got to give the new setup a test... its great!! i only have it set to middle setting too! i mean Demon Tweaks should be able to set you up with that (for a classic) for £150. Do this!! cornering is far more possitive and stiffer, you can really feel the car gripping-- its a fantastic feeling and kind of addictive haha, like even in a straight piece of road i might give the wheel a quick wiggle just to feel it hahaha i know its wrong

Like i say sort out the rear antiroll bar and droplinks, drive it for a while and you will be able to decide for yourself where you want to go. For me i think a 22mm front ARB+ uprated droplinks will be the next step, then springs. I think i will be very happy with that. I live up in scotland with loads of really technical roads and sometimes go for an unexplored drive, so i decided the slightly softer (but still plenty stiff!) 22mm bars would suite me as i may need to adjust line or speed mid corner if it turns out a bit different to what i expected. 24mm would no doubt feel increadable in the dry but may be a little less forgiving on blind run in the wet for example.

so yeah i am echoing what other people have said, but it really is THAT important. Sort the rear ARB and i'm sure you will decide for yourself where you want to go from there. my car is an otherwise standard '97 JDM WRX wagon.

I like mine on a diet of Whiteline, with standard struts and springs (2002 STI), I would advise fitting this lot first and if you still feel wealthy, then go for coil-overs.

P.S. Fancy front drop-links need regular tlc, or they will be knocking in a few months, I think it's a swap to Perrin for mine.

How is it on the wet though? Is the car really easy to oversteer when lifting off and is it progressive or does it catch you out?
My 205 gti had upgraded ARB and suspension and was great to drive, you could really play with the back end by adjusting the throttle mid-bend but the 205 was 35% lighter than the impreza. I really like how the car behaves on the wet at the moment and don't want to ruin that so I would like to hear some comments on how the car drives with uprated ARB and drop links on teh wet.

P.S. Forgive my ignorance but what makes Perin not prone to knocking? The new perin drop links have a cut in the bush for greasing so they would need regular greasing I guess?

driving out to my mum's on friday i think... been p1ssing it down all day up here in aberdeen, so if its wet i'll let you know how i get on. should be fine... eeek hahaha!

How much did this setup cost mate if you dont mind me asking??

Alo of people have said about just changing these parts and whats a difference it makes.

Circa £700 I'd say.

Mine is comfortable and used everyday by my wife and baby yet still manages to handle well enough for points in each round of the Time Attack this season - all this without an antilift kit in sight, no change of suspension pick up points and some toe out

If you don't have access to other Impreza's set-ups that you can try to gauge if they're right for you then it's probably best to set your self a budget and ask a specialist what they can do that will suit you.

Zak did my Tracking and all that on mine, Only thing i seem to be suffering with is my Front Left Tyre are gone bald on the outta edge yet the other side is fine? Been meaning to speak to you about this Zak about the cause of this.

Have to get on to some companys for prices Incl Fitting on these.
