I'm not long into ownership of my 400d, I've started to slip on this god damn slope !

I've just spent my lunch break in Jessops, pur-chasing the Canon 70-300mm lens .... and a slingshot bag....

Have to leave early now, to go and play......play..............PLAY !! :luxhello:

Thanks for the advice Gareth..... you are good at helping me spend my money !!

Simon,

they price matched........

I used this site ( Camera Price Buster - UKs cheapest camera gear (http://www.camerapricebuster.com) )to make sure I wasn't being ripped off...

I printed the sheet off and took it with me..... so i didn't forget what I was asking for...

and they price matched it.... tidy ! :luxhello:

PLUS..... you were right the first time..... I couldn't be ar$ed waiting around :nono:

If youve got more time for your next one try Kerso as recommended on here. HK Ebay store prices but from the UK. I just bought one from him and very smooth.

Assume your gonna send off for the £40 cashback on that lens? Im wondering if I really need to cut a big hole in the box to get the serial number off.

I did spot Kerso being mentioned and the fact that you had a smooth transaction....that was good to hear !!

I like the fact that I could pop down and try the lens' out...... had a think about it over the weekend and popped straight in and got it.....
With the fact that they price matched and (in my head) I had a bit knocked off and I could take it home the same day, sealed the deal for me...

I've got a few 'coupons to redeem at the mo.... 1 for the 400d, 1 for the 70-300mm lens & 1 for the Lowpro slingshot bag..... :luxhello:

Was it the same lens you got from Kerso? and if so, how much did the deal go down for ;)

If I feel the need to pur chase a further lens...... then Kerso will be on my list for tendering a price ;)

I was debating the 70-300 IS but after a couple of weeks of pondering and borrowing mates lenses I went with the 70-200 F4 L as I'll probably get a 1.4x TC at somepoint which takes it to 280mm but loses an f-stop but thats still F5.6 the same as the 70-300 anyhow. And afaik you can only use a TC (canon at least) on the L lenses.

Kerso price outside of Ebay was £330 + £10 delivery and from what others have said and done your able to get the Canon UK cashback. So end price is £300 delivered.

Camerapricebuster lists best price as £389 + £8 postage. So £357 total. So only a 16% saving I guess but every little helps as they say.

Btw I just called Canon Promotions and they confirm you only need to peel off the sticker barcode from your box when posting your claim off. So no need to cut a big hole in your nice box :)

On the cameras it still seems to need you to chop the box up as there is no stick on label.

Yep deffo the 2nd. Only sticker I had on mine. The bottom number is actually the serial no (as you will need to fill this in and submit form online as well as post off) I took a photocopy of mine in case it gets lost.

That is pretty crap aint it. What happens if you want to sell the thing - here have this box with a big hole in it!
