Ok so now I have a DSLR and listen to people talking about cropping, removing dust spots, adding borders etc. Is there some cheap (free is even better :)) yet useful software people use or are you all using something pricey like Photoshop?

Cheers,
Simon

Free - Picasa / GIMP

Cheap - Photoshop Elements / Corel Paint Shop Pro

Expensive - Photoshop CS3

Latest version of Photoshop Elements is probably your best bet.

Cheers Pumpkin. Will try Picasa for now and see how I get on before I feel the need to blow £60 on elements.

Hoppy - maybe something to add to your sticky as Im sure Im not the only photography noobie who will ask this question :thumb:

Picasa has basic image manipulation options - no blemish tools - but is quite good file browser.

GIMP is an open source version of photoshop. Powerful I understand but can be tricky to learn.

Agreed, but I was asked to remove all brand names on the sticky :( But I would go with Elements. In fact, I have :D

Ah ok :(

Hmmm I may download the trial. Local college does an evening course on it but lists version 3 - assume most of the features are the same anyway.

Tempted to do a Nature & Wildlife Beginners Photography course this sat. Would be nice to get some practical advice.
